THE CAST of SECOND SHOT
THE CURLERS
TEAM MAX
John Williams (Max Potter) is delighted to be back with Best Kind Productions for the next step in the Second Shot journey! John has been lucky enough to perform in dozens of productions in St. John’s over the years. He is a multifaceted entertainer who also dabbles in video production through his company Jackabon Media.
John has curled precisely once in his entire life and he was bad. About 20 years later he suffered a debilitating neck injury while watching the final rock of the 2017 Brier on TV. He sincerely hopes to avoid injury during this production.

Tolson Barrington (Heck Conover) is a retired theatre arts teacher with over forty years on stage as an actor and director in community and school-based theatre endeavors. His most recent credits BC (Before Covid): A Christmas Carol – A Live Radio Drama, St. Joh’s Players, Dec. 2019; Jack Meets The Cat, School Zone Production’s Provincial Drama Festival Entry, April 2019 and Beauty and The Beast, QVRRDF Fall Musical production, Nov 2018 in the role of Cogsworth. Tolson is overjoyed to be on the “Second Shot” team and to be once again participating in theatre. He is very privileged to be sharing the stage and touring with this BKP family playing the role of Heck in this curling musical production.
Tolson’s first foray into curling occurred when corn brooms were still in use and at times misses that rhythmic cadence of the broom slapping the ice in front of the rock as it made its way into the house competing with the skip’s shouts of “Hurry, hurry hard!”

Her experience with the sport of curling is very limited, as she is more likely to be found at the Brier Patch rather than on the ice or in the stands. Cheers!

She has been performing since the age of 3, wearing many onstage and backstage hats for Best Kind Productions, TaDa! Caitlin is excited and thankful to be returning to the world of “Second Shot,” to be getting a mid-show onstage snack, and to be working with this incredible
cast and creative team. Enjoy the show!
Caitlin first breezed through the doors of a curling club at the ripe the age of 8 and was unable to stay balanced and upright on the ice, let alone perform the sport. “Second Shot” truly is her second shot to redeem herself in the eyes of the curling gods!

THE FANS
Nick Mandville (Wyatt) is absolutely thrilled to be taking part in the next phase of this exciting curling musical! Nick is Co-Artistic Director of GroupHug Productions alongside Erika Squires, with their most recent production Sun in an Empty Room premiering at the SJS Festival this past September. Some past theatre credits include: Matilda, Trummp the Musical the Tour (PMP), Be More Chill (Best Kind Productions), The Sound of Music (Opera on the Avalon), A Call to Arms, 9 to 5 (Atlantic Light), Jesus Christ Superstar, Our Divas (TaDa!), Seussical, Godspell, Shrek the Musical (Etcetera Productions), All Shook Up, and Beauty and the Beast (Rennie’s River).
Ever since a young Nick tuned in to watch Jennifer Jones win Olympic curling gold in 2014, he has been hooked to the roaring game! He feels so incredibly fortunate to be able to take part in this production that mixes two of his favourite things: musical theatre and curling!

Sharon King-Campbell (Shirley) is an actor, storyteller, director and writer. Recent stage credits include The Mirror, Original, and Women Playing Hamlet (PerSIStence Theatre), The Ladies' Foursome (New Curtain), Brazil Square (Girl Power), and Jesus Christ Superstar (TaDa!). Sharon has been a member of the Best Kind family since her appearance in Fuddy Meers in 2015, and she sat at the director's table for next to normal, Fun Home, and The Stars Are Always Brighter When the Lights Go Out. She played Susan in [title of show] in early 2020, back when we thought a major snowstorm was going to be the big news item of the year, and is chuffed to be back with the entire team of that show, plus several other awesome people, in the latest Best Kind offering.
Sharon is terrible at darts, bowling, and billiards, but she thinks she'd be pretty good at curling if she ever tried it.

Sandra Mills (Glynis) is an actor / singer / theatre maker living in St. John's, NL, and is thrilled to be joining Best Kind Productions for the first time. Select onstage credits include Charlotte in The Maltese Bodkin, Mother Superior in Nunsense (St. John's Players), Charlotte Lucas in Pride and Prejudice, Blanche Ingram/Bertha Rochester in Jane Eyre (DW Productions), and a variety of Shakespearean icons in Shake it Up (Shakespeare by the Sea, of which she is also currently General Manager.) In her spare time, Sandra is a business analyst and software trainer at Memorial University, occasionally works in retail, and spends time with her cat-son, Caleb.
Sandra’s first consciousness of curling was, of course, getting a day off from school to watch Team Gushue win Olympic gold in 2004. It has since become a favourite family spectator sport, though her fear of icy surfaces will keep her out of bonspiel contention.

On stage, he has performed as Big Davey in Billy Elliot, the Factory Foreman and numerous roles in Les Misérables (Atlantic Light), Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, the Warden in All Shook Up (QVRRDF/The Fluvarium), Tiny Tom in Urinetown, Ronnie in all productions of Hurry Hard/Second Shot, and general cast member in Red Rock (Best Kind). Now he is looking forward to sharing this experience with his own family with his son Nick, the bass player in the band.
Like the character he plays (but don't tell Ronnie), the bulk of Terry's curling experience came in supporting his two kids when they were younger and involved in the junior curling program at the St. John's Curling Club. He enjoyed from the warmth of the lounge and a cup of coffee while they froze their rocks off on the ice.

When it comes to curling, Andrew knows just about enough to not be completely lost when it comes on TV, but not really enough to make any comments and definitely not enough to try and play!
